Designed as an enterprise connectivityinterface, the MES IT module uses deviceWISE technology from ILS Technology tobridge the traditional gap between the factory and the higher-level businesssystems, enabling bi-directional data communication from the production floorto the enterprise IT systems. Eliminating all middleware and gateway PCs, theMES IT provides a simple solution for controller-level direct database access,easing integration effort, reducing overhead costs and eliminating points ofpotential failure.SAP manufacturingand ERP applications offer the promise of enhanced enterprise productivity andinsight. Now with simple connectivity between higher-level systems and theplant floor, manufacturers can easily implement more comprehensive solutions.Improved overall connectivity and real-time access to production data deliverthe potential to realize far more productive and efficient processes. With SAPsolutions connectivity through the MES IT module, there is no need for anyintermediate PC infrastructure as part of the interface between the plant floorcontrollers and IT systems.This simplifies integration issues, and significantly reduces cost ofownership. The MES IT simply mounts in any spare slot on a Q Series controllerbackplane, providing an industrially hardened architecture immune to typical PCreliability issues. Data is transferred to and from higher-level systems over ahigh speed Ethernet connection.SAP solutionsconnectivity is the latest in a string of proven and successful connectivityoptions offered by the MES IT module. Other options include connectivity toSQL, DB2 and Oracle database systems, and to several messaging Services.
